PRICE: I'm so glad I booked the hotel months ahead of the Taylor Swift concert. I was able to get a really reasonable price for the weekend that the concert was held. Grand Central Hotel is one of the most affordable hotels near Tokyo Station. I like the area in general because it's not too busy and touristy. LOCATION: It's within walking distance from JR Kanda Station and from Tokyo Metro's Awajicho Station/Ogawamachi Station. There are nearby convenience stores, izakayas. The neighborhood is a combination of office/residential buildings so it's actually quiet on weekends and at night. Akihabara is within walking distance (for those who like walking). Tokyo Station is one station away. Other sightseeing spots such as Ueno is also accessible via JR Line. ROOM: The room where I stayed felt a bit bigger compared to a typical room. It could even be spacious enough for 2 people who don't have a lot of luggage. MATTRESS: The bed was quite firm. It's perfect for me because I like this kind of bed. ROOM AMENITIES: In addition to the usual amenities, I liked it that there were power outlets at the bed headboard. There was also a paper crane origami which I thought was really kind and thoughtful. STAFF: The staff at the reception when I checked in was very helpful. They were friendly and smiled a lot.

The property is located in Kanda, a station away from Akihabara. You can actually walk to Akihabara from the hotel. It is accessible via JR through the Yamanote line. The surrounding area is not very busy but there are convenience stores and restaurants near the hotel and the train station. The property offers drinks for free. A coffee and tea machine as well as ice machine are available at the lobby 24 hours. The toiletry kits and other amenities are also available at the lobby. The hotel offers breakfast for a fee but with limited choices for both Japanese and western. What I like about the hotel is the option to avail of specialty pillows for free, in addition to the regular pillows in the room. They are available at the lobby and you can take them to the front desk so they can give you a pillow case for it. You can also check-in early if the rooms are already available. The staff are very accommodating and room cleaning is available every day unless you opt out by hanging the do not disturb sign.

Hotel was very clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom were small but very clean and comfortable. Hotel location was very convenient for us because we traveled to Japan to run the Tokyo marathon and wanted to be near the marathon finish line which was less than 3/4 miles from the hotel. Hotel was also very close to main train lines that we used almost every day while on our trip. The breakfast being included in the stay was a very nice touch :-). Coffee at hotel restaurant, Pronto, was excellent! :-)

Hotel was exactly as described. As expected the room was small as was the bathroom, but clean and tidy. Quiet location yet only a 2 minute walk from Kanda station which is on a circular JR line which is good for main Tokyo attractions. In the Kanda station precinct there are numerous low cost restaurants which we enjoyed. In close proximity there are 3 Family Mart stores. Hotel staff were friendly and English spoken well. Breakfast was provided with our rate, which while was small was sufficient to get us going for the day.

The room was clean and spacious. The beds were also quite big and comfortable. You got free pajamas in the room which was a very nice touch. The location was great, very close to Kanda station which has a connection with the metro line and JR line. It's also in walking distance from Akihabara. The area is very lively around Kanda station and you can get great food there. You have to leave your keys at the reception but they're available 24 hours which is great if you want to have a night out.
